2007 Austin Half Marathon - Feb. 18th

It was a cold but beautiful weekend here in Austin for the 2007 Austin Marathon. After the fireworks and the national anthem this morning around 6:50am, the race of 11,000 runners got started. I love running in Austin...they have so many bands along the road side, lots of good places to eat & shop, and the people are wonderful. The hills around Austin can be challenging especially after you have been running for a few hours. After circling the state capital over bright sunny skies, I crossed the finish line in 2:40:45. I felt a little light headed after the race over so i headed straight for the food, drink, and chicken noodle soup tent. I met a a lot of people along the race. Saw some very interesting costumes too. Most of us were dressed very warmly because of the chill in the air. After the race we hung out at the finish line to watch a few of the runners cross the finish and then headed to 6th street for some food. I want to thank my brother Scott for coming to Austin with me to support me during the race. Hope all the Houston Blog runners did well. :D

Dave, great job on your half-marathon, and thanks for the comment on my blog. I wish you had messaged me last week because I gave a speech on Friday night to a VERY ENTHUSIASTIC crowd with Round Rock Fit and the dinner was open to outsiders, was loads of fun. You are correct, Austin is a great place to run and the weather was amazing. If you have not gone to my main web site yet to link your blog, please do so (the main web site is not my blog, but there is a link to it from my blog). Congratulations again on a job well done.
